12:15pm- Training Demonstration
Our training demonstrations highlight the close working relationship our students have with the animals in their care. Located at the Wildlife Theater.
1:00pm – Keeper Talks
Connect with the students of the Animal Care and Training Program as they talk about various Animal Ambassadors. See Posted Schedule at the Front of the Zoo.
2:30pm – Wildlife Presentation
Each educational program is around a 25-minute presentation that features a variety of animals and is put on and run by our students. Located in the Wildlife Theater.
3:30pm & 3:45pm – Feeding Demonstration
Watch as our student animal care staff demonstrate how we feed, train and safely care for some of our animals. See Posted Schedule at the Front of the Zoo.
Animal Meet & Greets – Times Vary
You never know when you may catch an animal out and about with its student animal trainers. Come eye to eye and learn about some of our animal ambassadors. Located at Exploration Stations.
Rajah’s Retreat is NOW OPEN!
Our brand new Tiger Habitat is complete and ready to welcome you on an adventure. Neil & Karma are enjoying peering out from all areas of the habitat, when it’s chilly they may choose to cozy up in the heated bedrooms or enjoy an afternoon splash in the pool. We are so excited at another step in the modernization of The Teaching Zoo! Keep visiting as we add more to the Retreat! Located across from the Reptile House.
Clarence the Galapagos Tortoise
100 years old and weighing up to 500 pounds, Galapagos Tortoises are some of the largest in the World! Clarence is not to be missed. You can find him munching on a snack or snoozing in the sun! Due to current construction, some access is restricted.
Ira’s Kingdom
Our male African Lion, Ira, is King of the Campus has a new kingdom to reign over.
Looking for a unique party experience? The Teaching Zoo is the perfect choice for an unforgettable special event. The zoo offers a convenient event space, fun live animal presentation, all honoring the birthday child or celebrating your special occasion!
Jr. Safari is a weeklong, full day camp running form 8:30am to 4:00pm. It allows your child the unique opportunity to come up close and personal with the zoo’s animal collection while participating in developmentally appropriate, science based learning experiences. All projects are designed not only to entertain, but also to educate the campers about the natural world of animals.
Some weeks of camp are designed for campers entering grades 1st to 6th in Fall 2026. Campers are grouped grades 1st-3rd & 4th-6th.
We also offer designated weeks designed for campers entering 7th & 8th grade in Fall 2026.
